I originally studied art and spent over 15 years offering creative workshops & opportunities to young people culminating in my role as Director of a youth work charity from 2005 to 2010. At the same time I qualified as a therapist in 2002 and have offered therapeutic support to families and young people in various contexts ever since. From managing a play therapy project in a primary school to supporting students at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance to helping teenagers cope with serious illness at The Teenage Cancer Trust to working as a parent counsellor in a Children’s Centre.

I have offered private consultations in North Leeds since 2014 and work in partnership with other professionals and NHS services when needed. My specialisms and areas of enhanced training being Art and Play work with children & young people, Eating Disorders (NHS guided self-help model) and trauma.

In 20126 I started further training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy or DDP for short! DDP is trauma based model that uses the relationships within a family to help children and young people who have suffered trauma and loss, to feel safe. It aims to deepen existing relationships and to help all the adults around the young person understand the impact of trauma on the grain. support the development of positive future relationships.

The model we use in DDP is called PACE and it now informs everything I do. You can find out more about the PACE by going to the DDP page
